Fairy Tale/Fantasy Dress Up Day

We had a lot of fun in grade one today.  It was dress-up as a fairy tale or fantasy character for "I Love to Read" month!  We had a lot of great costumes!

We have been reading a lot of different versions of the 3 Little Pigs.  In the afternoon the students had a challenge to design a straw house that the big bad wolf could not blow down.  They had to work in small groups and they were given straws, tape, and plasticene to construct their houses.  It was interesting to see all the different designs.

Afterwards we had a visit from the Big Bad Wolf and she could not blow down any of our houses.  Then we tried another wolf (a fan) and it could not blow down the houses either!

Welcome to Valentine Castle

We have been reading books about Fairy Tales and Fantasy and we have been having a lot of fun! -Naya

Today we made a castle out of a cardboard box.  Sometimes we read in the castle. -Kianna

Grade One Selfies

We took a lot of time working with our grade six buddies to make our selfies. Bridget is very creative! I like how Laura did her selfie. -Naya

I loved it! Ella's turned out so good!  I liked Naya's too.  I like how she did her face -Laura

These selfies would be good for pranking my dad! Also I liked Naya's selfie. -Logan

It was very fun making the selfies with our buddies.  I liked how Naya's, Laura's and Ella's turned out. -Kianna

First they traced our bodies, then they drew our faces, then we coloured together, then we cut the paper.  I had fun! -Jace

Halloween Fun

We have had so much fun doing Halloween activities at school.  On Friday, we did some pumpkin math.  We cut open our class pumpkin and counted all the seeds using 10 frames.  We were shocked that our pumpkin had 535 seeds!
Today we had a Halloween parade throughout the whole school, then we had our class party.  We had so much fun dressing up!  Hope you like our costumes!

Pattern Math centers

 We had our first math centers yesterday and the students loved them!  They worked hard at each center to make patterns.  They also got to play a game on the SmartBoard called Fruit Fall which worked on their graphing and counting skills.

We made patterns with paper shapes.  I worked with Hayden and Naya. -Laura

Terry Fox Walk

We did the Terry Fox walk to raise money for cancer research. -Laura

It was a nice day outside!  I liked walking!-Logan

It was fun!  I walked with Naya,then we caught up to Kiera, Brooke and Kianna. -Rylee
