Awesome Pizza Day

We put toppings on the pizzas.  I saved a piece for my dad.  They were very good! -Sadie

I don't like pizza, so I made one for my little brother.  My mom came to help us. -Owen

Chicks

Have you ever seen a chick hatch?  We did!  We had an incubator filled with 30 eggs.  25 eggs hatched.  One chick got stuck in it's shell and Violet's mom had to help it.  Poor chick!  We got to hold the chicks!  It was an awesome experience!
A huge thank you to Mrs. Lockery for arranging the eggs and bringing in the incubator.

100 Day Fun

We were having tons of fun to celebrate being in grade one for 100 days!  We had fun counting to 100 many different ways.

We made fruit loop necklaces with 100 fruit loops. We also popped balloons counting by 10s. -Owen

We made crowns and it was very fun! -Madi

We made 100 day crowns and decorated them "I am 100 days smarter!" -Isabelle

Grayson's mom came and helped out. -Asher

We did hula hoops, balls, and we had to walk 100 steps. It was very fun! -Emily

My favourite one was walking 100 steps because I almost saw my brother. -Marko

We also wore plaid today for Plaid day.  My favourite part was bouncing the balls and doing the hula hoops. -Alec

STEM Challenge- Build A Cup Tower

 

 Today I gave the students their first STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) challenge.  They had to build a tower out of cups.  They learned a lot about perseverance and the importance of working together.

I worked by myself and I built a 42 cm tall cup tower. -Asher

Our tower was 58 cm tall and we built it in 10 minutes! -Owen

Pumpkin Math

We did pumpkin math. -Madi

We had 586 seeds in our pumpkin!  Mrs. Bailey said that was the most seeds her class had ever counted! -Jensen

We had lots of fun doing it! -Sadie

We took all the seeds out of the pumpkin and glued them onto ten frames.  Then we counted by 10s. -Asher
